“It’s not a good thing, it’s a serious injury. He’s got a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) that’s going to keep him out for the rest of the season.” Cooper said of Fatavu.
“It’s a real loss. These things happen in sports. Especially football, but it’s still a serious injury. To have a young player is terrible for him and for us as well.”
Leicester signed Fatavu from Sporting on an initial loan deal last season. Playing a key role in their promotion to the Premier League. With the Foxes now activating a €10m buy-out clause plus €7m in add-ons.
Leicester are 15th in the Premier League with 10 points from their opening 11 games.
“He’s obviously a big talent and a young player. As exciting as he can be at his age, with lots to learn,” added Cooper.
“It’s only a pause and we will make sure, as difficult as it is at the moment for him. That he comes back being a stronger player and person. Which with the mentality and character that he has, I think will be the case.”
